Numbers Game

N's birthday is coming up in a few days. He is a hard guy to buy gifts for because he has few material desires. I did, however, pass along my financial calculator - the HP 12c Platinum. N loves numbers. I've had a chance to renew our numbers recently as well. While we are all set for finances for trip one (whenever we get that call, God willing), we are way behind for trip two.

We really don't want to do any more active fundraisers like the garage sale or holiday marketplace. There is so much need beyond our own that it seems selfish to be doing such things - is that a right thought? We'll still fundraise using the links on the right side of this page as those small amounts do add up.

So, that puts us in a bind. As of today, and not including the money already set aside, we are $29K short of what we need ($17K if the adoption tax credit still applies). I'm not sure how we'll get there, especially if we get the call soon. Perhaps God is giving us more time to raise the money we need.

God is a giving God. And He gives generously. While I gave N a lousy calculator, God gives us everlasting life in his Son. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 ESV)

I wrote this entry a few weeks ago but did not post until today. Since that time we've received several random envelopes. People have been forwarding us all different amounts to help with the adoption. God at work!
