NCFA Adoption Tax Credit Information

It seems like the adoption tax credit and the possibility that it will expire this year is a hot topic on the Internet. The tax credit will expire in 2010 unless Congress passes a law to extend it. The National Council for Adoption recently released this article explaining the credit and its expiration.

Will? How can a Trust be Living?

We have been updating many of our legal documents as we prepare to add another member to our family. Living trust? Disregarded entity? This sounds like fun, I know. Adoption Tax Credit Expires in 2010

One of the ways we plan to pay for our adoption is to utilize the adoption tax credit. The credit is $12,170 for 2010, enough to pay back the short-term loan we might need. Unfortunately, the adoption tax credit is due to expire at the end of this year. If our adoption is not finalized in 2010 (which is a good possibility), we will not be eligible for this credit.
